Ep. 124 Amanda Burrill: From Undiagnosed Brain Injury to Fighting for Answers

Amanda Burill has been a rescue swimmer in the Navy, a model and actress, a Le Cordon Bleu-trained chef, a sports copy editor for the New York Post and a sponsored triathlete and marathon runner. At just 42 years old, she's done more than many do in a lifetime.

During her deployment, it was easier for Amanda to talk about the cognitive and digestion problems she was experiencing than the mental health struggles. Amanda was living with a brain injury she didn't even know she had, and it wasn’t until her second brain injury that she realized what was causing the majority of her health problems.

In this episode of Flip Your Script with Kristi Piehl, Amanda shares her experiences with a traumatic brain injury and how she is advocating for veterans and others with TBIs. As an achiever and competitor, Amanda also talks about how mountaineering has played a large role in her healing journey.

CHALLENGE FOR LISTENERS:

Is there something in your life that would be helpful if you shared it, whether it's with someone else, on a larger advocacy platform or in your journal? Sometimes you just have to share things with yourself so you can figure out next steps.
