Ep. 135 Maggie Brown & Grace Moore: From Childhood Friends to Recess Pickleball Founders

The popularity of pickleball has skyrocketed since the pandemic. Leaning into the fun and social aspects of the game, childhood friends Maggie Brown and Grace Moore founded Recess Pickleball in 2021. After falling in love with the sport during the pandemic, they quickly realized there weren’t any paddles that aesthetically matched their lifestyle.

Maggie and Grace became friends during elementary school recess, which fuels their mission with Recess Pickleball. The two hope to bring the wholesome feeling of recess to people of all ages, encouraging them to take a break, have some fun and play. The fun and trendy paddles went from an idea to store shelves in 70 days, and within a year, Recess Pickleball gear was being stocked by Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, Free People and Nordstrom.

In this episode of Flip Your Script with Kristi Piehl, Maggie and Grace share how a simple recreational game has turned into a successful business and how they navigate running a business as friends.
