Ep. 138 Christine Ha: From Losing Her Vision to MasterChef Champion

Christine Ha lost her vision due to a medical condition called Neuromyelitis Optica almost two decades ago. As a chef, she was up against one of the biggest challenges she’d face in her career and had to re-learn how to cook without her vision.

Despite her vision loss, in 2012, Christine defeated over 30,000 home cooks across America to secure the MasterChef title, a cash prize and a cookbook deal. She was also the first blind chef to ever compete.

She is now a cookbook author and the chef behind three restaurants in Houston. Her first cookbook, Recipes from My Home Kitchen, was a New York Times best-seller. The Blind Goat and Xin Chào have been acknowledged by the James Beard Foundation. She recently opened her third restaurant, Stuffed Belly, with classic American sandwiches.

In this episode of Flip Your Script with Kristi Piehl, Christine shares how she discovered her passion for cooking, how MasterChef launched her culinary career and how she learned how to snowboard. She also talks about how creativity and determination can turn challenges into opportunities and lead to extraordinary achievements.
