Ep. 104 Nathan Sawaya: From Wall Street Lawyer to LEGO Master Builder

It's not your typical form of artistic expression, but for award-winning artist Nathan Sawaya, LEGO® bricks help unleash his creativity. Nathan used to spend his days as a Wall Street lawyer and his nights creating sculptures out of LEGO bricks. He'd showcase his work online until one day, the website crashed because it had too many hits. That was the turning point for Nathan; he left the law firm the following week and never looked back.

Nathan is the first artist to take LEGO into the art world. His statues have been featured in museums from New York City to Amsterdam. Nathan’s art sells for five and six figures and some of his clients include Lady Gaga, Andre Agassi, Bill Clinton and Tony Hawk. He is also the author of two best selling books, The Art of the Brick: A Life in LEGO and The Greatest Brick Builds: Amazing Creations in LEGO.

In this episode of Flip Your Script with Kristi Piehl, Nathan shares how he gained the courage to take a leap and create a profitable career out of his favorite hobby.
