Ep. 103 Jack Jablonski: From Life-Changing Hockey Injury to Preaching Positivity
In 2011, Jack Jablonski was a sophomore at Benilde-St. Margaret’s High School in Minnesota. He was playing hockey when he was checked from behind and went head first into the boards. He fractured two vertebrae and severed his spinal cord which left him paralyzed from the chest down.
Jack's story made national headlines, and he quickly became an inspirational public figure thanks to his positive attitude and his drive to prove doctors wrong. He started the Jack Jablonski Foundation with a mission to advance treatments for paralysis recovery. It also helps fund two big studies: a lower limb study at Mayo Clinic and another for upper body stimulation and function at UCLA.
While in college at the University of Southern California, Jack interned with the Los Angeles Kings as a podcasting contributor and media analyst. He graduated in December of 2019 and became a full-time digital media content specialist for the Kings.
In this episode of Flip Your Script with Kristi Piehl, Jack talks about the life-changing injury, his time at the University of Southern California, the Jack Jablonski Foundation’s mission and his career with the Los Angeles Kings.
