Ep. 131 Tyler Gillum: From High School Baseball to Savannah Bananas Head Coach

The Savannah Bananas are not your average baseball team. With hundreds of millions of TikTok views, they are reinventing entertainment and flipping the script on one of the oldest sports. Through skits, choreographed dances and unique rules, the team takes the field with one mission: make baseball fun and put fans first.

Tyler Gillum is the Head Coach of the Georgia-based team. He is also a baseball coach and is part of the health and wellness faculty at South Mountain Community College in Phoenix. Tyler dreamed of becoming a baseball coach while he was in high school. Looking up to his coach at the time, he turned to the sport as his escape from what was happening at home.

In this episode of Flip Your Script with Kristi Piehl, Tyler shares how hard work, perseverance and patience brought him to Savannah and the concept of Banana Ball. He also talks about his life goal of positively impacting 1 million people through baseball, education and exercise.
