Ep. 132 Jimmy Choi: From Parkinson’s Disease to American Ninja Warrior

Jimmy Choi was diagnosed with young onset Parkinson’s disease at 27 years old, but he doesn’t let his diagnosis hold him back. After years of denial, Jimmy fell down the stairs with his son and knew he needed to make a change. He started participating in clinical trials and physical research initiatives.

After learning that exercise was the best medicine for Parkinson’s disease, Jimmy is now a Guinness World Record holder, endurance athlete, ultra marathoner, American Ninja Warrior, motivational speaker and Parkinson’s advocate.

In 2022, Jimmy turned to social media to raise awareness for those struggling with degenerative diseases. He posted a video on TikTok showing the difficulty he had opening a pill box while experiencing tremors. Within five days, Jimmy had a new pill bottle on his doorstep, which he still uses today.

In this episode of Flip Your Script with Kristi Piehl, Jimmy shares his personal journey with Parkinson’s disease, his work with the Michael J. Fox Foundation and his many accomplishments.
