Ep. 143 Todd Tilghman: From Pastor to The Voice Champion

Before Todd Tilghman won season 18 of NBC’s The Voice, he was a pastor at Cornerstone Church in Meridian, Mississippi. He married his high school sweetheart and is a father to eight children.

Despite no formal musical or vocal training, Todd made it through the blind audition with all four celebrity judges, Blake Shelton, John Legend, Nick Jonas and Kelly Clarkson, wanting to coach him.

Todd and his wife, Brooke, wrote the book Every Little Win: How Celebrating Small Victories Can Lead to Big Joy. They share the lessons they've learned throughout their marriage and how they focus on joy and celebrating life’s little wins.

In this episode of Flip Your Script with Kristi Piehl, Todd talks about leading with love and why being authentic is so important to his journey.

CLOSING QUOTES

Birches - Robert Frost

“Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.” - Colossians 3:12-14
