Ep. 18 Joyce Hayden: From Losing her Daughter to Becoming a Voice for Change

Taylor Hayden is one of the more than 100,000 gun violence victims recorded across the country each year. In 2016, on a girls’ trip in Atlanta, Taylor died when a stranger used her as a human shield during a gunfight between people who had no regard for the lives around them. After her tragic passing, Joyce Hayden, Taylor’s mother, made it her mission to share Taylor’s story and raise awareness about gun violence in America. Joyce has started an organization, Stand 2 Oppose Gun Violence, advocated for justice in her daughter’s death and continued Taylor’s legacy of joy, prayer and lots of smiles. In this episode of Flip Your Script, Joyce and Kristi discuss the realities of gun violence and how Joyce hopes hearing Taylor’s story will motivate you to flip your script to make a positive impact so there is #NotAnotherTaylor.

CLOSING QUOTE

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall be afraid? When the wicked, even my enemies and my foes, come upon me to eat of my flesh, they stumble and fall. Though a host should encamp around me, my heart shall not fear; the war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I might dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple.
— Psalm 27: 1-4, Bible
