Ep. 19 Laura Sobiech: From the Lowest of Lows to a Legacy in the Clouds

When Laura Sobiech’s son Zach faced a battle with Osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer, she encouraged him to find a way to share what was in his heart with those around him. Zach picked up his guitar, and wrote the song, Clouds. What was as a goodbye for his family and friends, unintentionally, became an international ballad of hope for people of all ages, ethnicities and faiths. After his passing in 2013, Laura and the Sobiech family have kept Zach’s memory and story alive through the Zach Sobiech Osteosarcoma Fund and Zach’s Movement. In this episode of Flip Your Script, Laura joins Kristi to discuss her journey as a mother through Zach’s battle with cancer and how her family finds the motivation to continue sharing Zach’s story. Laura also shares what she hopes people will take away from the Disney+ release of Clouds, a movie based on the final year of Zach’s life, premiering October 16, 2020.

CLOSING QUOTE

Let nothing disturb you, let nothing make you afraid, all things are passing away: God never changes. Patience obtains all things. Whoever has God lacks nothing; God alone suffices.
