Ep. 21 Maggie Aldrich: From Government Analyst to Indie Author

As a high school student, Maggie Aldrich enjoyed subjects like math and science but dreaded English class and the prompted assignments. Although she excelled at the technical and creative aspects of writing, Maggie instead pursued a career as a government analyst and mapmaker. Shortly after the birth of her daughter, Maggie became a full-time stay-at-home parent. As her daughter got older, Maggie navigated the external pressure to return to the workplace and realized she had the opportunity to do whatever she wanted to do. After turning a passion for yoga into a side-gig, she surprised everyone, including herself, by picking up a pencil and writing her first novel. With four books under her belt, the indie author joined the self-declared bibliophile and host, Kristi Piehl, to talk about the expectation for mothers to work, discovering the strength to follow your passion and what’s on Maggie’s reading list.
