Ep. 25 Daniel Rubin: From Hollywood Glam to Rural Simplicity

How did a New York-born, Chicago playwright and LA screenwriter end up interviewing farmers in rural communities? It’s a long story, but for Daniel Rubin, expert storyteller, it’s entertaining. In this episode of Flip Your Script, host Kristi Piehl is joined by Daniel as they dive into his unique journey of following his passion to the point of quitting storytelling altogether. Years of success and rejection in Hollywood took their toll, and Daniel decided to leave the industry of external validation for a job meeting with and marketing to farmers in the heartland of America. Daniel shares how the change in scenery and pace taught him to communicate without glitz and glam, reigniting his love for story. With the recent release of his writing how-to, “27 Essential Principles of Story,” Daniel hopes to motivate young writers to find their voice. Daniel hopes to put his own tips to use for his next writing venture.
