Bonus Episode 2023 Year in Review: Vulnerability and Gratitude with Lisa Valle

As 2023 comes to an end, we are reflecting on the past year and looking forward to the next. Over the past year, 26 people from around the world shared their motivational Flip Your Script stories. Guests from the past year ranged from professors at the University of Cambridge and Harvard to champions of popular reality competition series such as The Voice, America’s Got Talent, MasterChef, American Ninja Warrior and Dancing with the Stars.

In this bonus episode of Flip Your Script, host Kristi Piehl shares her gratitude for the guests, listeners and the team that makes each episode happen. She gets vulnerable as she goes off script and reads from her journal, sharing how and why she intentionally said “no” to some things in 2023 in order to say “yes” to so much more. This mindset shift led Kristi to new challenges, opportunities and relationships. Kristi’s new friend Lisa Valle joins her to talk about how getting outside of their comfort zone led them to meet each other and brought so much into their professional and personal lives.

Our hope is that practicing gratitude, vulnerability and leaving things behind in the new year will change your life for the better. Thank you to our guests for their vulnerability in sharing their stories.

CHALLENGE FOR LISTENERS:

Try saying "no" to things that no longer serve you so you can say "yes" to new experiences and opportunities.

QUOTES

Life is nothing more than a stream of experiences — the more widely and deeply you swim in it, the richer your life will be.
— Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi
Endings are not only part of life; they are a requirement for living and thriving, professionally and personally. Being alive requires that we sometimes kill off things in which we were once invested, uproot what we previously nurtured, and tear down what we built for an earlier time.
— Henry Cloud, Necessary Endings
