Ep. 147 Donald James: From Intern to Top NASA Leadership

Donald James accepted an internship at NASA with plans to stay only a couple years. Early into his career, the space shuttle Challenger exploded seconds after liftoff and killed all seven crew members. The disaster changed NASA's space program forever and set off a series of events that made Donald realize he wanted to work hard to make a career at NASA. He was driven by a purpose to inspire people and make a difference. Donald served in a variety of roles and retired from NASA after 35 years.

He is a public speaker, mentor, business coach and the author of Manners Will Take You Where Brains and Money Won't: Wisdom from Momma and 35 Years at NASA. Donald shares learnings from both his professional career and his mom’s rules to explain how the true definition of “manners” is the authentic and genuine way we show up in the world.

In this episode of Flip Your Script with Kristi Piehl, Donald tells several stories from his time at NASA and shares how he is using his experiences to inspire the next generation.
